In times of darkness I feel quite at ease
This winter storm to me feels just like a breeze
I’m like a man who’s played with suicide
I walked to the edge and looked down and to my surprise
Death was drinking coffee and he asked me to sit down
I tried to look into his eyes, but I saw nothing at all
I asked him “Can you tell me, just what I am?”
He said, “Do not ask what you are, but what you will become.”
Well I was walking in a crowd
I stopped one day and decided to just turn around
But everyone kept walking right by me
Wondering why I was looking back to where I had been
I asked a woman if she had the time
She glanced at her watch and told me “11:59”
“No,” I said, “I meant the time to sit with me awhile,
Argue over a cup of coffee and maybe share a smile.”
{Solo – Jesse Aumiller - Tenor Saxophone}
Come take me away from all that I have seen
Come take me today to somewhere I’ve not been
Some place in the world there’s a little cove for us
Our names in the sand are melting on the shore
All the colors that I’ve seen liquefied and pure
Float out into the sea inside my bottle of dreams
The sun begins to fall and the stones all cease to roll
And finally I crawl into my resting hole
